Quick Tip!
Setting your ignition timing to 14 degrees (normally 10 degrees) will give you some extra low-end torque and better acceleration response.

Fitting Touring Horns
Other Mods MIKED writes "I was fed up with the weedy sound of the factory horns on my MK2 Roadser. Absolutely no good for making sure folks know you are there on narrow winding country lanes. So I bought a couple of touring horns..."

Paint your brake callipers
Other Mods Anonymous writes "Lovely alloys - but Oh look I can see rusty brake callipers. So paint them - and unless you thrash your lovejoy you don't need to spend silly money on fancy calliper paint kits. Humbrol model enamel is fine & available in lots of fnacy bright colours as well as silver and gold. Billiam "

bonnet rattles
Other Mods Anonymous writes "Fixing squeaks and rattles in the dash area. A simple mouse pad (I prefer an all black) can be cut to provide a (one either side) gasket to mount between the bonnet and the hinge arms."

Replace Electric Aerial with Honda S2000/Civic Stub type
Other Mods Jazzyb writes "Read on the forum that someone had changed the existing mast style Aerial with a Honda S2000 Stub type, as my electric Aerial was broken, I thought I'd try it:"

Boot lid liner
Other Mods MarkM writes "Most 5/Roadster/Miata drivers have heard of Saratoga who make saddlebags for the inside of the cars bootlid. I was tempted to get a set of these but, having heard reports that this lost you 3" of valuable boot space, (and 3" is a lot) I opted against it. "

Easi-lift Hood Assistant
Other Mods MarkM writes "I had problems getting it up but now can do it with one finger!!! Matt Clark (of Matt Developments fame) fitted his first Easi-lift system to my car in January. Comprising of a nitrogen filled gas strut (and two springs to replace the hood bump stops) this system allows users to raise and lower their hood from the drivers seat without undue strain. I was amazed that I was able to raise the hood with only one finger!!! Also when lowering the hood lowers slowly and nestles into place"

'Miata' Dipstick handle cover
Other Mods MarkM writes "This fits in the engine but is cosmetic. Doesn't make your car go any faster but looks wonderful when you open the bonnet/check your oil"

Jag Bags
Other Mods "While at the annual rally at Billing, we met Jayne Grogan of JAG Bags fame, who twisted our arm (ok, very gently) into getting some extra storage in the form of rear shelf bags. They clip on to the brace bar behind the seats, so they don't move about or get snatched while stationary, and have the added advantage of making a more than adequate windblocker at cruising speed. "

Fog Light Home Conversion
Other Mods Electrically it is very simple and just involves running the wire from your fog light switch to the lamp and tapping into the existing wire. One or two diodes are necessary to prevent backflow of current. (Otherwise all your brake lights might light up when you switch the fog light on!
